ESSENCE AND FUNCTIONS OF ENTERPRISE RISKS

In the article classical and neoclassical approaches to definition of the concept "risk" are considered. Various definitions of the concept "risk" and its essence are analyzed (the risk is characterized by the following signs: discrepancy, alternativeness, uncertainty). The main characteristics (the economic nature, objectivity of manifestation, probability of emergence, uncertainty of consequences expected adversity of consequences, variability of level, subjectivity of an assessment) and function of risks are allocated (innovative, regulating, protective and analytical) that is a basis for a further assessment and a choice of the actions directed on reduction of risks.
