Modern Catholic Church has changed its attitude toward the theory of evolution. According to Pope Francis, scientific theories, if they are considered not superficially, but rather deeply, are not contrary to divine revelation. The Big Bang theory as well as the theory of evolution do not contradict the divine act of creating, but rather require it. Science is free to propose explanations of the natural world, knowing that none of them are the final word and that all of them are based on the assumption of a rational universe, whose very existence depends on the creative action of God. This paper attempts to analyze the attitude of the Catholic Church toward the theory of evolution.
