HISTORICAL ASPECTS OF THE TREATMENT OF SCHIZOPHRENIA

This article devoted to the treatment of schizophrenia in the different historical stages. The disease was first identified as a mental disorder by Dr. Emile Kraepelin. He used the term "dementia praecox" for individuals who had symptoms that we now associate with schizophrenia. Over the centuries, schizophrenics have been considered mystics, saints, possessed by evil spirits. Treatment was both conservatively and surgery. Today, there has been a lot of research done in the area of schizophrenia, which makes it possible to choose the best individual treatment.
