The phenomenon of consciousness is one of the fundamental problems of philosophy. The problem of the emergence of consciousness seems to be one of the basic issues. The concepts of the emergence of consciousness include: theological (religious), dualistic, evolutionary, labor, theory of a single information field, and substantial concept. This paper aims to analyze the theories of the emergence and functioning of consciousness.
