Soil plays an important role in the functioning of the ecosystem. The soil not only is the main means of producing biomass but also it performs the function of the tread, that is, has the ability to absorb and retain a variety of contaminants, preventing them from enrolling in natural waters, plants, and further up the food chain in animals and humans.
However, the harsh climatic conditions and intense human pressure (mainly related to the operation of non-ferrous and ferrous metallurgy), in the Murmansk region create unfavorable conditions for soil formation and execution of their ecological functions of soils.
The aim of our study was the analysis of soil pollution by industrial enterprises of the Murmansk region.
In this study, an analysis of the ratio of emissions of industrial enterprises of the Murmansk region and identified the main sources and forms of soil contamination, the analysis of the level of soil contamination around industrial cities of Murmansk region, analyzes the features of the influence of anthropogenic pollution on terrestrial ecosystems of the Murmansk region.
