In this article the role of psychological preparation of athletes to competitions is considered. On the basis of this article authors offer to prepare athletes not only physically, but also to pay attention to psychological preparation, to hold psikhologo-pedagogical and psychotherapeutic events as it can affect result of competition considerably. There is a general system of units of psychological preparation for competition:
1) collection of sufficient and reliable information about the conditions of the coming competition, and in particular about the enemy;
2) the completion and refinement of information about fitness, athlete or team opportunities to the top of the competition;
3) the correct definition and formulation of the purpose of participation in the competition;
4) the formation of socially important motives performances in the competition;
5) probable programming competitive activity.
