Provincial Statistical Committee, the public (government) statistics in the provinces of the Russian Empire. December 20, 1834 by Emperor approved the "Rules for the Statistics Division of the Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Statistical Committees in the province." January 28, 1835 the Decree of the Senate on the organization of provincial statistical committees. The provincial statistical committees were set up under the chairmanship of civil governors.
