Increasing the oxygen capacity of the blood with the help of endogenous erythropoietin markedly improves physical performance. This was the impetus for innovative scientific research to create recombinant human erythropoietin analogues by genetic engineering, which are successfully used in sports medicine as doping. The advantages and disadvantages of recombinant erythropoietin preparations, methods of detection and methods of concealment in doping control.</p>
