A review and systematization of modern literature data about the biological role of the folic acid (vitamin Вс). This article is about the most important physiological functions of the folic acid in human body - participate in vital metabolic processes, the need for the formation of blood cells, involved in the immune, cardiovascular, central nervous systems, indispensable for women´s reproductive functions, processes of embryogenesis, pregnancy, lactation and the entire postpartum period. The main sources of folic acid content in foods and medicines to prevent and treat its deficit.
